Material: Aluminum
This cast aluminum honey dish by Yair Emanuel features an alluring pomegranate shape , hand-painted with a rich, glossy red finish.
Jewish tradition teaches that the pomegranate is a symbol of righteousness because it is said to have 613 seeds, which corresponds with the 613 “mitzvoth”, or commandments, of the Torah. For this reason and others, it is customary to eat pomegranates on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The pomegranate also represents fruitfulness, knowledge, learning, and wisdom.
The honey dish is a wonderful Rosh Hashanah present as well as a great gift for the new home. During the rest of the year it can be used to hold nuts, olives, dips, or any other treat for your Shabbat or weekday table.
Artist Yair Emanuel, a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, lives and works in Jerusalem. Vivid and harmonious colors as well as a mixture of the old and the new characterize Emanuel’s work, which is designed and crafted in his Jerusalem studio. The principal techniques utilized encompass painting on silk, hand-embroidery, raw-silk appliqué and painting on wood.
